| With the building of new ships concentrated largely in the Far East, the volume of ships being built in China has already increased to about 10% of the total volume of ships built worldwide, and rapid further growth is expected. For our company too, China has become an increasingly important partner. |

| Tsuji
Heavy Industries (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd., Zhangjiagang
factory, is our newly established company in China,
where we will combine the Japanese quality management
and latest manufacturing technologies with the abundant
Chinese labor force. Through this new factory we
will strive to further contribute to the shipbuilding
industry, and other heavy industries in general,
with high quality products at competitive prices. |
|
 |
| The new factory is located alongside the Yangtze River in
Zhangjiagang City, Jiangsu Province, about 120 kilometers
or a one-and-a-half hour drive north of Shanghai. |
 |
| The factory will be built in three phases, and the first
phase will include 230,000 m2 of ground, five roof-covered
manufacturing facilities and a 150-ton jib crane
travelling on a pier extending 65 meters into the Yangtze
River. The first phase will be completed late summer, 2003.
Manufacturing capacity is by then targeted at 5000 tons
steel per month, consisting of ship blocks, large plants,
large land and port cranes, ship equipment, bridges and
dam steel structures and other large steel structures. |
